The HP Photosmart C7280 produces lab-quality, fade-resistant photo prints by using a six-ink color system for accurate color reproduction. Photos will always print on the correct side of the paper with the right quality settings because of HP Auto Sense technology. And coupled with HP Advanced Photo Paper, the C6280 is sure to produce photos that are smudge and smear-resistant right from the printer. Print speed is outstanding as well, at up to 34 ppm black and 33 ppm color. For those looking to save paper, an included duplexer lets you print on both sides of the paper. Sharing the printer with everyone on your network is simple with both built-in wireless and Ethernet connectivity.

The fax functionality is performed by a 33.6 Kbps modem at speeds up to three seconds per page. The built-in memory can hold up to 90 pages and the fax is capable of color faxing, delayed sending, and auto-redialing with a maximum of 48 broadcasting locations. The scanner uses a Contact Image Scanner (CIS) for scans at up to 4800 dpi optical resolution with a scan size of up to 8.6 by 11.7 inches. The copier supports pages up to this size as well and you can make up to 50 copies in one pass. Color copies are supported and there are settings for enlarging and reducing from 50 to 400 percent. HP Photosmart C7280 supports Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP Home and Professional, and Windows Vista as well as Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.x. It is backed by a 1-year warranty.

I bought this printer about 6 months ago and it worked flawless on Windows Vista x64. Installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 and the printer no longer works. The drivers and software HP provides only half works. Scan features cease to work and toss out mass errors when using them.. "hpqtsshctui an unsupported operation was attempted" Unsupported operation lol? That's HP for you. They made the driver and it doesn't even support itself?

(5 stars) - Amazing "HELP"!
I've been using this printer for over a year now and I am thrilled with the photo quality even without having to change any settings like I did with my Epson. It is so easy to fax, scan and copy as well. The thing that really amazed me was when I got a paper jam for the first time trying to print a very time sensitive document and I couldn't reach in to free the paper. I started to freak until I went into the software "help", and lo and behold, there was a video showing me how to remove the paper jam. It worked like a charm. This was priceless to me!

Avoid this printer at all costs! I'm an IT professional and the following problems caused me a lot of grief. I had two of these printers, the first one I swapped back due to warranty at best buy for a new one. I had the following three problems with BOTH printers.

1. If the photo tray ever goes bad, even if you never use it, you won't be able to use the printer. You can't disable it. I never used it and I had chronic problems with it
2. The scanning software (Solution Center) will periodicaly lose the printer, even if you can still print from the device driver and see the printer on your network. The only solution is to reinstall the software, which takes about 30 minutes of your time.
3. If you're low on toner and you're using wireless, you'll get a friendly popup ever few minutes reminding you to replace the toner. You can't disable this popup.

The ink cartridges are very frustrating. I cannot print from the black cartridge when the other ink cartridges are empty. The printer requires that all ink color cartridges have ink to print black.

(1 stars) - HP Photosmart - Gone to hell in every aspect
Been an HP lover for years, but never again will I buy one. I've had two Photosmarts that have quit shortly after warrantee is up with the same problem - Ink system failure. A lot of these can be reset but they eventually get you.

Also the software has gone to he**. The installation and support is so complicated and riddled with holes I've spent much more debugging it than any other component. Installs fail easily. There is no restore function. Temporary files are created that can easily be deleted which damage the installation. (HP do you understand the concept of software restore and that needed files should not be temporary?) One time things go so bolixed up I had to restore my computer just to get the install functions to work. Then there's the infamous duplex printer failure. You go to print using the duplexer and get the message duplexer not installed (but wait - it's part of the machine!) So hit print single sided and it prints double sided just fine.

Support? Better off with someone off the street. Takes forever to get someone on chat, the phone, or email. Then they quote a stock answer. Finally you might get someone who knows what they're doing. That's if they haven't totally forgotten you. What - you use the printer for critical functions? Forget that - your going to spend days getting anything fixed.

Like I said, I've loved HP since the early 80's. But I would never buy another product from them again in my life. What's worse than hardware that starts out beautifully then always take a swan dive - software that's got to be the worst in the industry - support that ought to pay you for wasting your time.

Spend your money elsewhere.
