Product Reviews (5 stars) - IMPRESSIVE SOUND COMPARING THESE EARPHONES WITH THE OTHER ONES I OWN (SONY, ALTEC LANSING, CREATIVE)
THE PHILIPS SHE9700 SOUND IS SO BEAUTIFUL WITH AMAZING BASS, SUPER CLEAR HIGHS AND MIDS .
SO THEY ARE MY FAVORITE EARBUDS!!!!!
PREMIUM PRODUCT, 100% RECOMENDED
(5 stars) - Man, these things are flat awesome for the money! I have a very keen ear for audio thus, I have about 15 pairs of IEMs from the super cheap to the ridiculously expensive and out of all of those, these are my favorites. Yes, I prefer these to my Super-Fi's, Shure's, and Atrios. They are that good. That being said, I'm NOT saying they are better, but to MY EAR, I prefer them. Plenty of deep bass, with a smooth mid range. The highs are very crisp and clean. There appears to be a spike at about 8khz that really brightens things up. I will admit they could have probably toned down the highs a db or two and these would be spot on. But these are definitely not "tinny".
I have listened to them on a plethora of different source units. With and without an external amp. And am constantly amazed. The best marriage I have found with these phones is with my second gen iTouch and the Fiio E5. I am NOT impressed with most iPods sound quality, but the second gen iTouch, along with the 4th gen Nano and 6th gen Classic are using a Cirrus audio chip that really shines. Id say my second fav is the Sansa Fuze and Fiio E3.
My only complaints are with the ear inserts. They include 3 sizes. I use the middle ones for the best bass, but those tend to slip around a bit when in heavy motion. (ie, exercising, etc). They never come out, but I have to "re-seal" on occasion. I'm sure it's just my weird ears, as no one else has complained.
At any rate, for $30, these are an absolute STEAL.
(3 stars) - Another pair for my earphone drawer. I ordered these because of the low price, the good reviews and the "turbo bass". Well, I haven't found the "turbo bass" yet in 3 days. These are "regular" earphones - not the "turbo bass" which Plilips advertises. They sound similar to my Skullcandy Ink'd or Altec Lansing Backbeat 106's. The only way to get any bass is to adjust the EQ all the way to bass and turn up the volume - thereby blowing your brains out with the treble! Even then it is very weak! Also, these do not fit into my ears like all 6 other brands that sit in my drawer - they can't be inserted as far into the ear canal no matter how hard you push because the housing won't allow it.
I will still be sticking with my V-Moda Bass Freqs and probably just replace them with the same thing when and if they ever go bad. The overall sound from these is unbelievably better that the Philips 9700's!
(5 stars) - BEST headphones I EVER owned Ya put em' in your ears and they jus tune out all external noise. They work jus like ear plugs. The headphones stay in place inside the ear canal and the sound is superb. Bass in well on point - and the music is crystal clear. I highly suggest purchasing this product. Excellent pick in my opinion.
(4 stars) - Great sound and bass, but one bud shorted I have a different model, very similar to these but with ear hooks. The sound quality and bass production are great, the soft covers for the earbuds are comfortable (mine came with 3 choices of size) and cancel more background noise than other styles of ear buds (see the photo). *Much better* than the foam-covered, hard plastic Sony ones I used to go with, though they should have model comparable to this one, I haven't checked. If you get the model with ear hooks, they are flexible, probably mitigating the usual wire pulling problems that lead to quick failure in other models.
Anyway, for these reasons, I'd recommend these.
As a side note, the right bud shorted quickly due to a manufacturing defect; I was getting mild static shock from it, which was not pleasant, followed by reduction in the sound quality. Check around to see if this is a common problem, and anyway keep your receipt unlike me ;)
