(4 stars) - It's a magllite, not a cheap LED light.
rating: 4 stars as a general use flashlight, 5 stars as an LED flashlight. It's way better than the average imported LED flashlight.

This maglite, with 3AA batteries and a 3W LED bulb, is about as bright as my old 4-cell maglite with the white-star krypton bulb. It should last longer, and never need a new bulb as long as I own it.

If you've purchased other cheap LED lights and been disappointed that they fail like old-style flashlights (you have to tap/knock them to get them to go on, poorly made switches, poorly made contact points, etc)... this is NOT like those. It's a maglite. It works.

It does no focus quite as well as filament bulb maglites, but it does focus.

Color: blue-white, more blue than white-star bulbs. The light doesn't seem as "thin" or blue as many blue-white LED flashlights.

Battery Longevity: 3W bulb, with 1.5V 3amp-hours: should provide about 5 hours+ of continuous light. With 1.2V NiMH 2000mwh: should provide 2+ hours of continuous light.

I've been using mine off and on all summer, haven't needed to replace alkaline AA batteries yet.

(5 stars) - It's Really Perfect
I check so many forums and you tube reviews , They says Fenix is better. Its correct. But for this price, its perfect. I have Mini Maglite 2 AA , I cant even compare battery life for both. This product's battery really long lasts. It is too bright, more than enough.I may say turning dark into daylight. For 20 meters its affectingly bright. A little bit bulky, but its not big problem. Focusing is not same like 2AA maglite, but enough.
For me this product is more than enough. Its strongly recommended.

Think about a flashlight made by unknown brand. The maglite brand is misleading - the on off switch works 90% of the time. Controlling the beam condensation is a big BS. Why 3 stars and not 1 - 1. it is working most of the time, when it doesn't - you play with the on off switch. 2. it is cheap

(5 stars) - Hard to Beat for the Price and the Quality!
I have 8 or 9 MAG lights around the house, and in the cars...I actually gave my 2AA MAG LED to my Uncle when he needed an upgrade because I already owned the 3AA light I'm reviewing today. I used to keep a 2D or 3D cell MAG in my car, but I just don't feel the need to do that anymore, now that I have this flashlight. Easily as bright as the 2D LED MAG that I own, and equal or better than an older 4D (non-LED) MAG that I keep downstairs. If you need just ONE excellent, all-purpose MAG flashlight to keep in the house, or in the car, I think that this is the ONE. I think that the benefits of easily changing the AA batteries is key to that decision - I have a number of other more expensive (and admittedly higher performance) lights, however those lights need the CR123 batteries. If you don't mind ordering a few spare sets of those $$$ batteries on-line, then some of those lights are worth the money - but if that's a turn off to you, and you want to standardize on AA batteries, then this 3AA light from MAG is really hard to beat!

I have nothing to criticize about this flashlight. It's light and seems as bright or brighter than older, heavier incandescent D cell battery flashlights. With occasional usage over the last year, there are no signs that the batteries are wearing out. It also feels solid and well made, and looks good too.
