(5 stars) - one of the few movies I don't get sick of having to watch over and over with the kids
When my kids find a movie they like it's usually the only thing they want to watch for a long time and this is one of the few movies that I end up watching over and over that doesn't end up getting on my nerves like alot of other movies will.
The characters are perfectly animated, the voices fit well and the movie goes well with the soundtrack also with a good story line and will keep the kids attention.

Bought movie after watching it on tv my son is so fascinated by lions and all other zoo animals he loves his madagascar movies so bought this to add to his movie library he loves all the characters and knows the dialogue word by word impressive for a toddler. he loves it that all taht matters in my book

(2 stars) - Where have I seen this before...?
The only reason as to why this film got an extra star out of me was due to the fact that the animation was incredible. The backgrounds were unbelievably realistic. But, unfortunately, animation is the only thing that this film has going for it.

It is difficult to care about the characters at all, as they all try to be witty and dramatic at the same time. The koala bear was especially irritating, walking around with a bucket on his head and running into things without even trying to remove it. Is that supposed to be funny?

This film is filled with circumstances that could easily have been avoided, had the characters been given any kind of sense by the writers. Sadly, they were not. In one scene, a grown lion refuses to fight three growling dogs in the streets of NY, forcing himself and all of his friends into a sewer, where it takes them about ten minutes to find out how to reach the Statue Of Liberty from two idiot alligators. Why? The lion could easily have ripped those dogs apart. One was a poodle, for goodness sake. In another scene, this same adult lion is searching for his son in the jungle, but barely loses him. Rather than keep searching, he stops and begins arguing with some fat rat/squirrel thing. Then the lion's friends show up, and they begin talking for like twenty minutes about something completely irrelevant. Meanwhile, the lion's son keeps getting further and further from them. I swear, the entire time that I was watching this film, I wanted to yell at the characters for being such imbeciles. The writers were clearly desperate for a plot.

In conclusion, do not watch this film. It is around two hours of idiotic animals roaming pointlessly around the world in search of a lion cub. It is not funny or heartwarming in the slightest bit. Sorry Disney, but Dreamworks wins this round. Please, see Madagascar (Full Screen Edition) instead (as I'm sure many other reviewers have already advised).
