Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) changed his name several times to coincide with his changes in artistic styles. Here, The Great Wave at Kanagawa, is part of a 36 piece series originally done as Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock printing. Mount Fuji is a centerpiece of great aesthetic and spiritual significance in this print, and a plethora of Hokusais other works. It expresses the mystical interconnection between natures primal beauty, and Mount Fuji, holding the secret of immortality. A study in contrasts, the thundering wave towers over struggling boats and the distant, Zen-like tranquility of the mountain. In a novel interpretation of a traditional theme, Hokusai places Mount Fuji in the background, rather than at the forefront of his work, suggesting that its diminished size does not equate to diminished power.

(4 stars) - Great Addition to Any Dorm Room!
If you're a fan of classic Japanese prints, I'm sure you're already familiar with this piece. If you have a space on your wall to fill, this is a nice and cheap way to do just that. It might not be the world's best printing quality, but hey, I paid less than five dollars for this massive poster. How can I complain? If you're a little short on cash and you like this piece, this is a good deal.

As far as shipping and whatnot goes, I received my poster a little less than a week after I ordered it. And that's with my university mail room's horrendous processing times included!

(1 stars) - Poster was a bad photo copy or a real poster
The poster I received was less than stellar. I waited 3 weeks for it to arrive, found out it had been lost and sent a email inquiring about the arrival date. They sent me a new one which I was happy about but when it arrived, it was a poorly done copy of what I was expecting. Overall I was unhappy with the product. I should not have been surprised because of the affordable cost but I had hoped for the best. I will hang this poster for now until I can order a legitimate poster. Not just a copy.

Well, either you like the picture or you don't. The quality of the paper isn't too spectacular, but put it up in a frame and you forget about that. For the price, it's hard to complain.

This was on backorder when I bought it, and it took probably 3-4 weeks before I received it, but it was worth it.

This print arrived in the predicted time in mint condition. Two days after I received my poster, I got an email from the seller, informing me that the post office sent back a damaged package, and that they would send me a new on their behalf. Since I was happy with my poster, I emailed them back, letting them know that my poster had arrived safely. It's a great print! I highly recommend it!
