You have to make sure that it's dark enough for your cats to actually SEE the light. You must also make sure that you turn the wheel around completely to the next image to prevent "bleeding" over into the next one, or having it black out, but It's worth it for the fun your pets (and you) will have.

My cat loves this and never gets tired of it. I've had her spin 11 times in a row trying to get it red dot! She only chases after the dot. I don't know if this is true, but she understands that the dot comes from the black stick. She sees it and goes berserk!

The device itself has held up to several drops. Still using the original set of batteries. I've seen them cheaper in stores since my purchase ($2.99), but it still was a great buy.

(5 stars) - Two out of Three Cats and a Puppy Approve!
I have three cats and of them two absolutely go bonkers for this thing! I've owned two of these laser pointers for a few weeks now without trouble with either one. I happened to have it in my purse when I visited another friend who had just got a puppy and she was sooooo cute chasing it! Even if this thing breaks now I'd still say I got my money's worth. Even thought the pointer is on a keychain I just keep it in a drawer, I imagine it would break a lot quicker if you always had it on your keys.

PS - I've found that my pets react best when it's just the concentrated dot, not the other shapes.

(3 stars) - Not interested...
Well, everybody kept telling me this was something I NEEDED for the cat. So I gave in, and got it. For a total of 5 seconds the cat was interested, then she figured out where the source was, and she thought my hand moving was way more interesting.

Now, I can wave this all I want, she doesn't care. Once in a while she will humour me and run across the floor once, twice if I'm lucky, but in general, this was a waste of money :( On the other hand, it's a good pointer, so I use it for presentations instead...

This product sucks! The seller was great, please don't misunderstand my review. And the idea for the product is a good one. The product itself, though... NOT so good. Just made very cheaply - reflected, I suppose, in the price. I am not mad, mind you, because I believe I got what I paid for. Long story short, I went to Wal-Mart and bought a laser mouse toy for my cats, took the batteries out of the junky laser, saved them and threw the laser away!
