| Innotek ULTRASMART REMOTE TRAINER, 300YDS |
|
Product Details The highly advanced, integrated collar is remarkably thin and comfortable for your dog. Don't let the pocket sized handheld transmitter fool you. With 300 yards range, 9 levels, training tone option and precision digital display, the Micro Remote Trainer is an advanced system that offered you the options found in much bulkier units.
Product Reviews (5 stars) - Works great We have been very happy with our purchase. Our dog has responded quickly and loves the freedom she has when we are out in the yard. The battery life is great and has made it so easy to train our 9 month old puppy.
(1 stars) - Poor quality control When this collar works, it works as advertised. However, after three days use, the collar and the remote stopped communicating. Bought a new battery ($8.00!!) for the remote and still nothing. Recharged the collar over and over again -- nothing. Bought a 2nd collar. Same thing happened again -- worked for three recharge cycles then it was dead. By this time the new battery in the remote was dying (it flashes "L" for "low") and off to the store for another weird-sized $8 battery. Then the first collar came back to life for one recharge cycle, then dead again.
There's something in the collar electronics that is simply unreliable. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the rechargeable battery. I think it's the electronic circuitry that's faulty. Either a poor design or poor quality control or simply a lack of robustness in the components. But the concept for this collar is great! Fits my dog perfectly, comfortable, intuitive GUI on the remote. Really just a great overall design. Too bad the manufacturing quality just isn't there.
BTW, most of the 5-star reviews for this product are by 1st-time buyers of an electronic training collar who rave about how well electronic training collars work. Folks, we already know they work! We want to know how well THIS ONE works!
(5 stars) - best training collar by far! The Innotek ULTRASMART training collar works like a charm.
I have gone through 3 PetSafe collars which either broke or wasn't effective and thought that all training collars in general are not great training methods. The PetSafe collars uses small watch batteries which didn't last very long and I was tired of buying and changing them.
The charging dock for the ULTRASMART is an excellent feature -- no more buying expensive batteries.
The design of the collar and remote is rugged and of excellent quality. The design of the module is nicely curved which looks more comfortable for my dog and wasn't very obtrusive.
I was very surprised how fast I trained my dog. After just a week my dog was well behaved even in the presence of strange dogs and when vacuuming, something my dog always goes crazy over.
The warning tone was highly effective and I only had to shock my dog just only once since I had it.
If you are considering a quality, durable and effective training collar this is the one to get. You will not be disappointed.
(4 stars) - Good hearing aid for dogs Our 7 month old lab mix was very hard headed and stubborn and would not listen and obey the most basic of commands. We had decided to turn him over to a rescue group but knew he would eventually end up at a shelter to be euthanized because of his lack of house manners. We decided to give him one last chance with the Innotek Ultrasmart remote trainer and it has helped so much. We have only had it for about a month but he is listening now and knows what happens if he doesn't obey. We use voice command first, then the warning signal and if he still doesn't listen then he gets the 'RED' button. It has literally saved his life as we will be keeping him after all.
(4 stars) - It turned my dog around My dog has quite a mind of his own, he doesn't socialize well with others of his kind and can be a tad aggressive around other animals. It's been rather frustrating to see him get dirty looks from other pet owners at the dog run when my poor boy gets into scrapes with other dogs. Despite diligently attending obedience classes, he's still a rather hard dog to handle. My dog trainer finally introduced me to this training collar a month ago and my life has since changed for the better. Within a couple of short sessions with the collar, my dog is much more attentive to me and responds to my commands more readily. I started by using the collar on him at the start of each class, and after 3 or 4 applications of stimulation, I was able to take the collar off and carry on with the rest of the class with his attention fully on me. I finally bought one for myself and extended the use of the collar to training at home, at the dog run and also out on walks. I didn't need to apply anywhere close to the max level of stimulation, quite often i start out at level 3 or 4, before settling down to 1 or 2. Although the collar has been a godsend, I gave it 4 stars for the following reasons.
1. Very soft tones, I find it hard to hear the on/off and ReadyTest tones, especially outdoors where there's a bit more ambient noise.
2. Despite coming with 3 sets of prongs of varying lengths, they are still not very sensitive to long coats. It takes quite a bit of shifting around to make sure the collar prongs comes into contact with the dog's skin.
3. The "Tone Only" function also suffers from low volume with no option to increase it. I doubt it will prove to be an effective training option.
Despite these shortcomings, I still think the collar is a fantastic training tool, especially useful for difficult dogs.
