Product Details * Long awaited collaboration between MIKE PATTON and Norweigian artist KAADA. Two years in the making, this dreamy soundtrack sounds and looks beautiful. Kaada's soundscapees are augmented by the smooth, eerie vocal work as well as the unpredictable electronic manipulation of Mike Patton. * Packaged in a 6 panel chipboard digipak with silver printing. * You Love Mike Patton!
Product Reviews (5 stars) - ... The compilation of these two musical mad-men was mind-blowing on this one shot album. From start to finish it puts the listener in a state of unsettled euphoria. The sounds collaboration of synthesized technical music of Kaada with the near spontaneous coordination of Patton mixed very well, and gave me the feeling of a Night Time Soap Opera mixed with and Old Horror movie from the 70s back.
Odd, creative, and very unique...fans of either Kaada or Patton will really enjoy this.
(3 stars) - Another Mike production ! Well I supose I may have had my expectations a little to high ! I am not familiar with Kaada's work and purchased this album solely for the Mike patton experience. From the title (Romances) I had kinda expected something along the lines of Lovage! (still his best side project to date by my personal opinion)and would be hard to make something that good again. Realy nothing like Lovage at all and not an exceptionaly exciting listen, still it is Mike's voice there amongst the eclectic electronic sound. I wouldn't bother, unless you are hopelessly addicted to obtaining the entire Mike Patton collective works like myself! although I suppose this sound would have to appeal to some? I recommend you give it a listen before you buy
(5 stars) - Beautiful and grand. An instant classic. One of the more complex and unique things i've ever come across. Very haunting and epic. Kaada and Patton will be remembered for a lot of their work, but this one will definitely be a career gem for both.
(5 stars) - it IS music to fall asleep by... But that's not necessarily a bad thing. And unlike what that other guy said, if you can fall asleep by listening to the cd then it does serve a purpose. You can listen to it when you're awake also - don't get me wrong!! This album is awesome. I play it ONLY during the months of November thru January cuz it feels Wintery. Yeah, that's what I f**king said - Wintery! It makes for some good non-denominational holiday listening. Add this cd to your rotation of Holiday Jingles while sucking on mistletoe and chugging down egg-nog.
Peace on Earth, er something.
(5 stars) - boardering hallucination I bought this album, because I'm a big fan of Mike Patton's work with Faith No More, Bungle, Fantomas, and Tomahawk. I know Patton is a complete nut. However, I was not familiar with John Kaada at the time of my purchase. Even though, I'm very familiar with Patton's other work, what this album had in store was very unexpected. It is possibly the creepiest, trippiest, most intriguing album I've ever heard. It is not for your average listener, by any means. This is the type of music that will take hold of one's mind, give extremely vivid hallucinations of what is going on, and wrap around the brain, squeezing it into insanity. There are abrupt dynamic and instrumentation chnages that will either confuse the hell out of you, or make you more and more curious as to what will happen next. Buy this album if you are looking for an emotional rollercoaster. It is one of the most interesting soundscapes in my collection. I personally love it. Most probably wouldn't know what to think of it.
