Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini Prep Plus Food Processor, Brushed Chrome

Product Details

This little 250-watt workhorse comes in handy when a full-size food processor is unnecessary. The 3-cup work bowl is just right for making pesto or a salad dressing, and two receptacles in the lid have pinholes for one or two oils to stream into the bowl while the processor is blending a perfect emulsion. It's also ideal for chopping and grinding. Pressing the "chop" button deploys the sharp edge of Cuisinart's patented reversible blade to chop onions, herbs, or bread crumbs. Pressing the "grind" button whirls the blade in the other direction so its blunt side can grind nuts, coffee beans, or cheese. Compact at just 9 inches high and lightweight (it has a plastic body), the Mini Prep Plus can be tucked away in a cabinet, and the little spatula accompanying it goes into a drawer. It carries an 18-month warranty against defects. The plastic work bowl and lid are dishwasher-safe, but the stainless-steel blade should be hand washed to protect its edges. --Fred Brack

Product Reviews

(4 stars) - Works like a charm ... (But I bought it only a month back)
I got this food processor a month back in a pretty good deal (It was my first purchase with the Amazon credit card, so I had to pay only $9.99 for the thing). The motor is pretty powerful compared to its peers and it shows in the performance as well. The knife edges demand to be handled with extreme caution as they are REALLY sharp.
I have mostly used it to make onion-tomato paste (for Indian cooking) and that hardly takes 10-15 seconds.
Chopping chicken pieces was also remarkable fast and even. I am yet to use the grind feature so I shall have an update on that later.
The best thing about this is that its dishwasher safe which is the real time saver.
On the downside, the power cord is pretty small and the jar doesn't seem to be very strong (I may be wrong though ...)

(4 stars) - Exactly as advertised
I have never owned a small chopper but wanted one for things really too small for my large food processor. So far this fits the bill exactly. I've used it for salsa, sauces, nuts, breadcrumbs so far and I've been very pleased. It goes together well, comes apart well and cleans ups easily. Most of the time I put it in the dishwasher but occassionally if I'm using it for more than one thing during prep, I'll hand wash. No silly crevices that I can't get clean or dry by hand.

It has plenty of power to do what I need. "Chop" spins the blade in one direction and "Grind" in another allowing a thorough chop of whatever I've put in it so far. Works well for dry as well as wet ingredients.

I'm very please so far. Let's see how long it lasts!

(5 stars) - Cuisinart Mini Prep
This mini food processor, chopper, grinder is everything it is advertised to be. My vegetables chop perfectly and coffee is ground to perfection.
I highly recommend the Cuisinart for quick preparation of foods and meals.

(5 stars) - Awesome excellent!!
I totally love this Mini-Food Processor. Years ago I had another food processor. However, it was large, took up too much space and was difficult to clean. But not Cuisinart DLC Mini Plus Food Processor. It is small, compact, great to use and so very easy to clean. I am using it almost daily. I would buy another if need or for a gift. And the service from Amazon was amazing. I ordered one afternoon and it was at my home the next afternoon. I love it!

(4 stars) - handy little gadget
The small footprint means that it can be left on the kitchen counter and is easy to reach for when you have those smaller prep jobs to do. If you follow the cautions from other users and avoid using it for really hard objects like Parmesan cheese, you won't risk damaging it or dulling the blade. Everything from Pesto, to herbs and aromatic sauce preps is a snap with this processor and cleanup is straightforward. For the price, its a good buy. The plastic chamber does not look as if it'll last for years and years but I've had it for about 12 months now and so far so good.
