| Misto Gourmet Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer |
|
Product Details For spreading olive oil evenly on bruschetta, focaccia, and grilled or roasted vegetables, and for spraying muffin and cake pans with vegetable oil, this dispenser is a nifty tool. A plastic cap underneath the sprayer's top twists off so the sprayer can be half-filled (1/3 cup) with oil. Inside the top is a plastic tube that fits over the spray nozzle. Push the top up and down to pump air pressure into the canister. Then spray for 10 seconds and pump up again. It's simple, ingenious, and practical. With its cap on, the sprayer stands just 7-5/8 inches high, so it tucks away easily on any countertop. Made of satin-finish aluminum with a black-band accent, it's sleek as well as utilitarian. --Fred Brack
Product Reviews (3 stars) - Works well, but I broke it after only three months Works as advertised and worth the high rating from Cooks Illustrated. The pump mechanism broke after three months. I can not find replacement parts and Misto did not return my email asking for a replacement. If you experience is like mine you'll enjoy the mister but the pump will wear out long before burly stainless steel body wears down.
(4 stars) - THE FINAL OIL SPRAYER tHIS PRODUCT IS THE VERY BEST i HAVE FOUND SO FAR IN THE LINE OF OIL SPRAYERS. HOWEVER, ONE MUST LOOSEN THE COLLAR AFTER FINISHED USING IT SO IT DOESN'T CLOG. AFTER LOOSENING THE COLLAR TO RELEASE PRESSURE THERE IS SOME OIL FILM WHICH SEEPS DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE UNIT. BUT I DO RECOMMEND IT.
(5 stars) - Awesome all the time I'm buying a replacement for the one I purchased 4 years ago at Target. I never fill it more than half way, but other than that I don't usually let the pressure out after each use, and I've used it almost every day. The one I have has finally dry rotted its o-ring seal. Couldn't ask for a better quality sprayer!
(3 stars) - I really want to like this! How much do I want this thing to be awesome? I've bought two.
What's wrong with it? If you don't release the pressure after each use, you gum up the works. That's what happened with my first one. Buh-bye.
So, with attempt number two, I released the pressure after each use- you do this by undoing the cap. But that's holding back all the pressurized oil. So where does it go? Yup, all down the side of the bottle and all of your hand in a fine, pressurized mist.
This time it won't gum up, but I don't like picking up the sticky bottle.
(5 stars) - Love It! Since cutting butter out of my diet, I have been using olive oil to grease my pans. However, I do not like greasy/oily food so I prefer a thin coat of oil. I had tried several other methods of spreading oil out in the past, but they were all messy and/or wasteful. The Misto solved both of these problems by spraying a thin, even coat of oil over all my pans with no mess!
The only problem I had when I first got it resulted from filling it too full. At first it would only spray a few seconds before sputtering but as the level went down it worked better. I learned to only fill it half full and it has worked perfectly ever since. I have not had any issues with clogging, but I am going to take other reviewers' advice and depressurize it after each use from now on.
If you cook with oil a lot I highly reccomend this product. And mine will easily pay for itself by eliminating all the oil I used to waste!
