Product Reviews (5 stars) - just the rake i needed this rake was perfect for the job of removing the heavy thatch from our yard. the price was very good and the rake is a tool i would recommend to anyone for removing thatch.
(5 stars) - Works too well? This thing is AWESOME. Unfortunately you can't use this if you have a yard of any considerable size. It gets everything out but that means A LOT of work and A LOT of thatch to get rid of. But if you don't mind the hard work this is for you. Otherwise you might want to hire somebody. My back was really feeling it the next day.
(3 stars) - Better have some muscle.. Dethatch your lawn with this rake ONLY if you really have to!! This tool is head heavy, so your arms will get really tired, unless you are in super shape. I will allot one week to do the front lawn. I am still sore from using it on 1/3 of the lawn. It will remove everything including green, which will leave your lawn looking terrible.
(5 stars) - Awesome tool! Once you get the hang of using this tool, you'll be amazed! It pulls out so much gunk from the lawn that you'll think you won't have any lawn left - however, when you're finished - you can stand back and your lawn looks better! Also, your lawn will be SO MUCH healthier! My neighbors come over to watch when I use it, and some have even bought one for themselves. I use this in areas that need attention - it'd be quite a job to do the whole yard at once - but someday I'll get it done. It's really great for "collie" markings :^) in the yard - I just pull up the dead grass and reseed. For the money, this is a GREAT tool to have!
(5 stars) - Sturdy, made well and does the job. I am trying to bring my lawn back to a pristine state after many years of gardeners who just do the basics, cut the grass and leave. So I'm educating myself as to how to maintain the lawn, besides fertilizer and watering correctly. I was having more run off of the water than I liked rather then penetrating the soil and roots. A friend looked over my lawn and showed me how much dead matter that won't decompose actually is sitting on top of the soil, but hidden by the grass. He then explained the need for thatching. There are alternatives other than this rake, but they are very heavy and expensive equipment. The first pass I made on a small 3'x5' patch of lawn brought up a large mound of dead brown dead grass and weeds, I was amazed. The first time you use this rake it is a bit on the hard work side, but afterwords on follow ups like prior to fertilizing it is much easier since the years of accumulation are gone. Use this rake right after cutting the lawn and you will find you aren't tangling up and pulling out some of the good grass too often. My run off problem disappeared and the lawn is much healthier. This rake is very sturdy, made well and works as described.
