| First Alert RD1 Radon Gas Test Kit |
|
Product Details While radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas, high concentrations of radon gas in the home can be hazardous to you and your family's health. Radon can seep into your home's basement or crawl space through cracks in the foundation or walls, openings or spaces around sump pumps and drains, or construction joints or flaws. The First Alert radon test kit is listed under the EPA radon gas measurement proficiency program and can be completed in as few as two to three days. Included in the cost is the lab fee for an EPA listed lab and a return mailer. The test results are returned to you within 72 hours of lab receipt, and include the recommended next steps you will need to ensure the health of your household. --Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box Charcoal activated test kit, user's manual, and return mailer
Product Reviews (5 stars) - Easy to use This tester was very easy to use. Read the instructions, do the test, mail the tester and wait for the results.
My results came quickly--inside two weeks by USPS. The results appear to be in line with what I expected, given the soil conditions in our area and the passive mitigation that's already in the house.
Price was much better than testers available at big box stores.
Highly recommended if you need to do a radon test and don't want to pay a pro to do it for you.
(5 stars) - Convenient Stuff Used for after home purchase to check out the previous radon for real estate transaction is accurate. Very convenient. For NJ resident, there is $10 additional state fee. I also used express service and received report 5 days after I sent out the kit through USPS priority mail. Total cost is around $40. Compare to professional radon test service $100, it's very cheap and reliable.
(1 stars) - Results never arrived Packaged it up and sent it off over 3 months ago. Never got any results.
(5 stars) - Great Product & Very Fast Results I was a little hesitant to purchase this test kit. Since I have Prime, it shipped for free so I decided to take a gamble. We have new granite countertops & a few weeks after installation, someone questioned whether I researched radon in granite countertops. I had not researched this aspect of granite countertops prior to installation. Since I have two small children, this really worried me. I bought this kit & set it up in the middle of the kitchen when we were out of town for a couple of days. We came home, shipped it off on 7/8/09 with 4 stamps & had the results via e-mail on 7/13/09. We were very happy with the quick service & even happier to know our kitchen has a below average amount of radon being emitted.
According to the results, the U.S. indoor average is 1.3 pCi/L, and the outdoor average is 0.3 pCi/L. Our level was 0.8 pCi/L.
I would recommend this kit to anyone concerned about home radon emissions.
(5 stars) - Quick and Easy We recently purchased a new home, and the inspector tried to sell us an inspection for $150. Instead I got on Amazon and we located this kit.
The kits came quickly, as always, and we set them up easily (basically just open and write down the time). We mailed them off and had them fax the return back to us. Received the results within less than 10 days.
