Great movie! Full of twists & turns.

Product was better than advertised and came much sooner than promised.

(5 stars) - NOT your predictable murder-mystery.
This is definitely the choice when you want an entertaining, non-violent [well, except for a murder, bondage, and an impressive collection of medieval weapons ..... okay, a LITTLE violent], movie that you do not want to miss a frame.
The majority of the movie is filmed on one set - the interior of a refurbished/restored windmill. Limited, unimaginative, right? Wrong! The simple murder-your-rich-wife-for-the-money plot turns, winds and flips into cunning complexity. Michael Caine masters his character. The interaction between Christopher Reeve and Caine is brilliant. Dyan Cannon portrays the meek, unassuming wife well, but try as I might, I could not empathize long for her. The storyline swept me into the next scene and the next and the next. Irene Worth is delightful as the quirky, psychic neighbor.

The Bottom Line:

A stylish and inventive thriller, Deathtrap is hurt by a terrible performance by Dyan Cannon as Michael Caine's wife and an ending that doesn't quite work, but is still definitely worth watching for its fun twists and turns.

When I have guests, this is a "go to" movie to share. It is played in a stage style, and for a who-done-it, it keeps you guessing until the end.

...You'll stop laughing only long enough to gasp in surprise. The stars are terrific. The atmosphere is thick. The sets are marvelous. The score is wonderful and story is to die for!

The only thing missing is a special edition (that is anamorphic widescreen) with a running commentary from surviving director and stars - Lumet, Caine and Cannon.

DEATHTRAP, a wickedly, stylish, sneaky, cat-and-mouse movie, is a terrific companion piece for anyone who loved the "original version" of SLEUTH.

See it... applaud it... adore it! It is everything you heard and much more.
