The author pilots you through the misperceived turbulence of taking on the role of a seller. You are guided through the complete "selling-your-own-home process" - from making the decision to put up the "For Sale by Owner" sign on your front lawn to the moment when you turn the keys to your house over to the buyer. I found the enclosed CD and forms to be invaluable. This is the "to-start-with reference" once you have decided to become your own realtor.

Wow--what an easy to read, comprehensive GUIDE to Selling Your Own Home! In her For Sale By Owner book, Kathy Gottberg shares invaluable personal and detailed information to save yourself large sums of money. Her expansive table of contents and attached CD of forms take the reader through the steps of selling his/her own home. First she explains how real estate works, the "art" of pricing, negotiation (and renegotiation), disclosures and simple solutions. Even as a FSBO, there is still help available from the escrow officer, appraiser and inspectors. There is even a list of "Do's" (e.g. "stage your home"), "Don't" ("chatter nonstop"), and printable counter offer forms like #180 on the included CD. Selling Your Own Home does take time and energy and if you decide to use a broker or buy outside of California, the book has absolutely informed you of what to expect of the real estate process.
