Product Details From the amp guru, and columnist for Vintage Guitar magazine, comes a future classic that features more than 60 easy-reading chapters de-mystifying the complex world of tube amplifiers. Over eight years in the making, it covers the basic knowledge and the practical steps to work on this type of amplifier, the preferred type of amp for millions of guitarists and technicians.
Product Reviews (5 stars) - "Page turner"? Who'd a thunk a book about guitar amplifiers could be a "Page turner". I hated to put it down and couldn't wait to get back to it when I did. I will however try to "get a life" once I'm through reading it.
This is a great book that gives the novice everything they'll want to know about tube amps and MORE. It's a complete "buffet" of tube amp knowledge combined with heaps of the authors years of experience. Not page after page of schems but enough to give a solid understanding of the subject at hand as well as other related pictures and diagrams. Don't misunderstand, he goes DEEP at times but using the buffet analogy I took what I wanted and left what I don't think I'll use leaving plenty to come back to as my understanding increases.
A well rounded book!
(5 stars) - Essential indeed I found that both the book and DVD are packed with good information. My first amp build was done confidently with knowledge gained directly from this book: I found the sections on tone shaping quite useful! Also helpful is how Gerald addresses fixes for built-in factory design flaws on some vintage amps (I found and fixed two of my Fender's heater wiring polarity issues with the book, and "Black-faced" a '68 Bassman using the DVD). Included in the book is a section on how to turn one of your Fender amp channels into a tweed or Marshall type sound, and visa-versa. Good Reading!
(5 stars) - AMP FEVER This book has refreashed my knowledge of electronics if you want to build and understand Guitar Amplifiers this book is a must
(4 stars) - Another good book from Gerald Weber I think this is another good book from Gerald Weber. None of Gerald's books give you all the answers to your tube amp questions, but he has over 20 years of experience and shares that knowledge with you. I find useful info in every tube amp book that I purchase.
(1 stars) - Same old same old Same old GW bunch of ridiculous opinions. I thought this one might be better, but no...
Now even pine isn't good enough - it has to be 100 year old pine!
