Whether or not you are planning to have an expensive decorator come into your house, or whether or not you are deciding on trying to design, create and assemble your own workmanship, this book will give you many great ideas on window treatments for any window in your house. Particularly, if you want to jazz up the furnishings and windows in your childrens' rooms, or brighten up your master bedroom, and all your guest rooms, you will find some very nice ideas. You may even try out the step by step instructions for getting the materials to craft the finished product; so what if you go through trial and error, it's a great form of family activity, bound to inspire, engage and maybe even entertain yourselves, while doing it.

You may be a single "occupant", as much of the mail is labeled, today, and you may find this book's instructions and illustrations a way of inspiring yourself to "create anew" , and all of a sudden, you will find yourself transported to another place on the globe. Perhaps, your travels are inspiring you to create a room with a view, a room with a theme. Go for it!

There are many ways to decorate a cake, or cut a pizza; so, there are many ways to decorate the landscape of your life....in your own home, without consulting a pricey decorator, who will actually clone his or her likes onto your walls, windows, and in your rooms. Each room, be it the kitchen with windows, the bathroom with a skylight, a bedroom with several windows and nooks, or the childrens' personal spaces, you will be excited to create a theme or two. Who knows, your son or daughter may just want you to re-do the room in a couple of years. Don't count on any of them spending a whole childhood and adolescence in one décor, and then go off to college, or the job scene. And, adults, we like to change and rearrange, maybe, even exchange.

If, at last, you feel some obstacle in your way, besides your fear, sure, go ahead, make some trained person's economy swell and you will settle for their renderings in your space. It's a great handbook for anyone wanting to re-do a window and the room it serves.

The book was exactly what I hoped for, although I did find one minor error in the instructions. The instructions were otherwise very detailed, and the book had a lot of good ideas for window coverings.

This book shows the basics but with a little imagination you can use this book to make any window treatment. If you can sew a straight line you can make any of the window treatments in this book. I have used this book to create custom window treatments for my kitchen, office, family room, master bath and guest bath, so far.

This book is great! I purchased it because I mainly wanted an easy way to make hobbled roman shades. I found articles on the net that tell you how to make roman shades but I did not feel that they explained the process well enough. So after purchasing this book Windows with Style: Do-it-yourself window treatments, I made the roman shades for my daughters bedroom, living room, and bathroom. It was easy. The calculations were easy to figure out. Every thing will come out right if you can use a ruler and do simple math. The projects can be done with a variety of fabrics. The alternative window projects like the shoji window screen and the hanging window planter are great too. I made the shoji window screen for my zen-themed bedroom and the hanging window planter for my kitchen. This gave me a convenient place to put my herb garden. Although many of the other projects in this book are of no use to me because they are not my style, I feel that I did get what I wanted and more from this book. Five Stars!
