I bought this book during my "waiting" period. I was in my early 20's and stumbled on this book at a Christian bookstore. Not only did I read it multiple times, I bought and gave away the book to other single girls many times, as well. I am not a book-reader, but the principles and the encouragement found in this book are life-changing. I have been married for 3 years and still talk about things I learned from this book with girls in our youth group and single girls. I am actually purchasing a few more copies today for some girls in my church. I highly recommend it!

Lady in Waiting has more valuable information than you may think. I found this out after reading only a couple chapters, and from then on, soaked it all up like a sponge. I'll help sum it up a little. =) Do you think that married women are to be envied because they have a man who loves them and children to care for? Do you think that being single is a bad thing, something to be embarrassed about? That they should search as fast as they can for Mr. Right and get married ASAP? I did too. But through the words of Jackie Kendall and Debby Jones, I don't anymore. I learned that though Mr. Right can complement you, he cannot complete you. Only God can. God knows and loves you more than any human on this earth can, and only He can satisfy and fill your desires. God wants you to spend your single life (no matter if it is only a few months, or your entire life time) seeking Him. He wants you to spend that precious time learning more about Him, spending time with Him, and learning to desire and rely on Him. God uses the time you have as a single to help you grow in so many ways. In diligence, faith, devotion, purity, security, contentment, patience, and so much more. So don't waste your time trying to look for Mr. Right yourself, ahead of God's perfect plan. Wait patiently for God to prepare you both for each other, and for Him to bring Mr. Right to you.
This book is so worth every penny! I am very glad I got this book. It helped me in many ways, and will help you more than you can imagine! And though it is mainly for Single women, this book is great for high Schoolers and married ladies as well!

(4 stars) - encouraging words for Christian single women
I am in the process of going through this book as a study with my friend. It is something I chose to do to grow spiritually this summer. Thus far, I am enjoying the book very much, though I am only three chapters in. It has messages to encourage any woman or girl who has been feeling dragged down or thirsty spiritually. Nidling details: I am not fond of the cover of the book or the NAME of the book. The title LADY In WAITING somewhat implies that we should be standing around and waiting, rather than actively seeking Christ and what He wants for His ladies, whether it be marriage or otherwise! We should of course not marry a "bozo"; I agree with that. We should wait for a good guy if we are to be married at all... I also don't like the cover of the book with the castle... That's what the book is speaking against, really. That is, it is speaking against having your own fairytale in your head and instead asking you to seek God... So it seems like a weird pic for a cover. Anyway. It's still a very good book so far, and I would recommend it strongly. You just might want to get a book cover.

(5 stars) - AWESOME, LIFE-CHANGING BOOK!
I read this book over 10 years ago and it changed my life! I re-ordered it recently because I had lost my copy, probably because I let someone borrow it and it never got returned, which is ok, because hopefully, someone else was equally as blessed by it as I was! I am getting ready to order about 20 more copies because I'm starting a Bible study at my church tonight and I'm sure God is getting ready to change even MORE lives through this book!
I HIGHLY recommend this book to every woman reading this - not just single women, but any woman "waiting" for something in life!

(5 stars) - Awesome read for any single woman or adolescent
First let me say that I am a 47 year old divorced Christian woman who was more than just a little angry about being alone four years after my divorce. I couldn't understand why I had to walk alone as a Christian single mom, after years of being in a lonely, controlling marriage. A 30-something single friend of mine found this book in a bookstore and raved about it. I could see a softening in her and total change in her attitude. I bought it and and I have to say, not only do I no longer constantly think about how cheated and lonely I am, I am so much closer to God. A new peace has replaced the anger that was coloring everything I did so I couldn't enjoy my life.

Though geared towards young women that have never been married, it still changed my life and my heart. Very much has a strong Christian focus which could either be a turn-off to woman not as strong in their faith or like me, they could be pulled to the other side and find God is all they need and He is enough.

I cannot say enough about this book - I only wish it was available when I was still single. I am pleased I will be able to pass it on to my own daughter when she is thinking about getting into a love relationship. Awesome!!!
