What to Expect the Toddler Years

Product Details

They guided you through pregnancy, they guided you through baby's first year, and now they'll guide you through the toddler years. In a direct continuation of What to Expect When You're Expecting (over 9.6 million copies in print) and What to Expect the First Year (over 5.6 million copies in print), America's bestselling pregnancy and childcare authors turn their uniquely comprehensive, lively, and reassuring coverage to years two and three.

Organized month by month for the second year (months 12-24) and quarterly through the third year (months 24-36), What to Expect the Toddler Years covers each growth and development phase parents are likely to encounter-when they're likely to encounter it. Hundreds of questions and answers treat everything from eating and sleeping problems to day care, tantrums, bottle mouth, shyness, self-esteem, and more. An entire third section of the book is devoted to toilet training, safety, and health, and a fourth covers special concerns-the exceptional child, siblings, and balancing work and parenting.

Remarkably thorough, caring and intelligent, What to Expect the Toddler Years is as valuable for the seasoned parent as it is for the new parent. 2.4 million copies in print.

Product Reviews

(5 stars) - My "go-to" reference
I was so glad to have this book handy through age 3. I kept in it the bathroom and could read snippets during bath time. I also grabbed it in the middle of the night if I had to give medicine or couldn't figure out what to do. I also enjoyed the month to month milestones in their non-threatening format. Being the typical worrying mom, it was nice to see that my little one was on track, or what I should be watching for in the next few months. A must-have that I was happy to pass on to a new mom.

(5 stars) - babies do have instruction manuals!
my parents used to say babies did not come with instruction manuals.....well this book is as close as its ever going to get. Forget about asking parents or other know it alls, all you need to know about your baby and how to manage most situations is here! An essential must have guide for every new parent. The truth is a prepared parent is a better parent. I am a physician and when it comes to my toddler her tantrums and hissy fits when eating I had to admit I don't know it all. This book will prepare you for almost everything.

(4 stars) - Another Great Resource
I own the whole series. So I obviously had to buy this one when my child became a toddler. This info is easy to find through out the book. I like how it tells me what to expect each month from my child. The only piece I don't like, which is an issue on all them, is how they mark the months. My son is 15 months, I need to be reading the 16th month. I don't get why they lay the books out that way. Makes it a little confusing.

(5 stars) - Help Me! I have a toddler!
Jajaja. Great book to find almost all the answers. As a first time parent you don't know all the answers or what to do on a lot of situations. Very helpful book.

(1 stars) - Not For All Mothers!
I am absolutely disappointed in this author and this book! I have purchased and read "What to expect when you are expecting" as well as "What to expect the first year." But this time around I am appalled by the authors attempt to portray her own personal opinion and agenda as factual information. Disgusted! I am truly disappointed because I did really enjoy and appreciate the first two books. I have been fact checking numerous topics within the book and have found that the book is incorrect! This book is not for Mothers who choose to practice anything related to Attachment Parenting. The first topic within the book that grabbed my attention was in regards to extended breastfeeding. Please! To all mothers, disregard this section! Murkoff is out of her mind! Maybe she should speak with someone at La Leche League and get her facts straight. It saddens me that Murkoff has the power to deter so many millions of women from extended breastfeeding! Not just breastfeeding but numerous other topics. I feel that Murkoff takes advantage of that fact that not every woman who reads this book is educated and able to think for themselves, much less fact check information. It is no wonder that so few woman breastfeed as recommended by the AAP, WHO, & UNICEF when we have women like Murkoff writing and selling millions of copies of books that are misleading and lack factual information!
