Product Reviews (5 stars) - monkey business This is a classic referred to me by a friend. A quick easy read that I found immediately helpful in solving personal problems with time management. I have already loaned it to a co-worker suffering through task management problems.
(5 stars) - Great for Newer or Long Time Managers I first read this book in 2002 when a company I was working for mandated that all new managers to the company read it. It changed the way I managed people completely. To this day I give this book to managers that have not read it. In fact, I am on here right now ordering more because I have given them all away. This book has allowed me to let my employees think for themselves and put the burden of their jobs, back on them. Great book and easy read!!!!
(5 stars) - Great Book. I buzzed through this book in a couple hours. I am very guilty of picking up monkeys, and have trained my peers to drop their monkeys off at my desk. This gives me insight into making a change. I'll be checking out other One Minute books.
(5 stars) - Understanding Monkey's Makes better Ministers! The staff of a large Church studied the One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey. They found in unbelievable funny. Indentifying the next move in identifying monkeys from each other and members made the work more fun. Just understanding the next move as a monkey became funny instead of accepting chores or somebody else' MONKEY. At my final luncheon each one gleefully receive a key chain of a barrel of monkeys and talked about how liberating the concept really became. This book needs to liberate a new generation of managers.
(5 stars) - "It's tough to work for a nervous boss; especially if you are the one who's making your boss nervous." Solving problems (or as Blanchard refers to them... monkeys) is something everyone must get better at throughout life. Regardless if you are in the field of business, medical, or even in parenting, solving problems is a big part of being successful every day. That's why I think this book is for everyone. I personally took away valuable knowledge on how to delegate properly and keep a team of people moving in the same direction. One of the great arts of management is delegation and the principles in this book are simply fantastic ideas that when applied, do work. This book cost me $12 and it's helped to make companies I've worked for millions. Pretty good value!
