Product Reviews (5 stars) - A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse: The Complete Stories) I love this book it fills in the blanks and adds to the characters the small things that did not get into the 9 books of the Sookie Stackhouse Novels (Southern Vampire Series) . If you have not read the books you might feel a little left out on this one. These are just short stories little side bars and they are great I was done with the book in a few hours.
(5 stars) - A Touch Of Dead I am addicted to the Sookie Stackhouse series, I can't wait for the new book to come out!! I couldn't put it down! If your looking for an escape from the really world this helps!
(3 stars) - Save your money I am a devoted fan of Charlaine Harris and her Sookie stories so I looked forward to reading this book. Unlike some other reviewers, I knew it was not a continuation of her novels, but a collection of short stories. However, the stories were really not that good or interesting and I suspect these stories were probably edited out of her larger novels for this reason. I did give it 3 stars because as a Sookie fan I still enjoyed reading more of Sookie and her world. My advice: do what I did and spend a hour or two at your neighborhood bookstore and read it there for free. There are only 4 or 5 stories in the book; the stories are ridiculously short and written in a really large font.
(3 stars) - If you're a fan... it just doesn't matter. I have enjoyed the series- flaws and all. If you're a Sookie fan you're going to read this regardless of the reviews. Having said that, the book seems incredibly rushed and is an extremely brief read. It did give me a little Sookie 'fix' while waiting for the next book in the series and it was cute.
SPOILER: I did find one story disturbing... 'Gift Wrap'. Sookie's great grandfather sets up a special booty call for her. I enjoyed the story up to the point when you find out it was arranged by grandpa. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I find it disturbing to think of a parental unit masterminding a sexual escapade for their child.
Overall, add it to your collection.
(3 stars) - A nice collection of short stories This was a nice collection of short stories. I had read some of them in other anthologies but some of them were new to me. They each have Harris's touch to them and they are very well written. I would recommend that you have read the other Sookie books to fully understand what is happening and Harris does a great job of explaining where in Sookie's books these stories would fit. I recommend this book to people who love the Southern Vampire series.
