Going Rogue CD: An American Life

Product Details

One year ago, Sarah Palin burst onto the national political stage like a comet. Yet even now, few Americans know who this remarkable woman really is.

On September 3, 2008 Alaska Governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention that electrified the nation and instantly made her one of the most recognizable women in the world.

As chief executive of America's largest state, she had built a record as a reformer who cast aside politics-as-usual and pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: Energy independence. Ethics reform. And the biggest private sector infrastructure project in U.S. history. And while revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also beat the political "good ol' boys club" at their own game and brought Big Oil to heel.

Like her GOP running mate, John McCain, Palin wasn't a packaged and over-produced candidate. She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue collar union man, and mother of five children, the eldest of whom was serving his country in a yearlong deployment in Iraq and the youngest, an infant with special needs. Palin's hometown story touched a populist nerve, rallying hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans to the GOP ticket.

But as the campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. Supporters called her "refreshing" and "honest," a kitchen-table public servant they felt would fight for their interests. Opponents derided her as a wide-eyed Pollyanna unprepared for national leadership. But none of them knew the real Sarah Palin.

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politicsfrom patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizen's extraordinary journey and imparts Palin's vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth.

(3 stars) - More Monty Python Hilarity
This absurd, tongue-in-cheek romp from former Monty Python player Michael Palin gives laughs from start to finish. In a hilarious parody of the American political system, Palin writes from the viewpoint of a former beauty queen who incongruously rises from the PTA, through the governorship of an imaginary state, and on to nomination as the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate! Be forewarned, conservative readers may be offended by the relentlessly unflattering way the author portrays the far-right wing of the party. But it's all in good fun, and a great addition to the wacky nonsense the Pythons are known for. Can't wait for the movie!

(1 stars) - Going Rogue
This is, by far, one of the worst books I have ever read. It is juvenile and obviously a ploy in order to gain exposure from the uneducated and unexposed in order to further her right-wing greed for higher political power. She's desperate to climb.

(1 stars) - If you want the truth about Sarah Palin read "71 DAYS: THE MEDIA ASSAULT ON OBAMA"
The proof about the disaster that was and is Sarah Palin can be found in the book, "71 DAYS: THE MEDIA ASSAULT ON OBAMA." It is a truly well documented account of the terrible things Sarah Palin actually said and did throughout the campaign. Read it and remember - NEVER AGAIN will we allow her to get that close to the White House. NEVER AGAIN!

(1 stars) - If I could give it 0 stars, I would. . .
. . . because this book is a joke. Even more, it's an insult to intelligent, politically-aware people.

(5 stars) - Best Book I Have Ever Not Read!
This book is great! I'm so happy the Marxists are all up in arms about this one... They say she's "irrelevant" and "not worth talking about," and yet they can't help themselves but tell us exactly how much they're afraid of her and her values shared by millions of Conservatives. I have not read her book, but neither have 99% of all the haters leaving their reviews here... So you libs keep hating and complaining about Palin, 'cause the more you whine and moan, the less time you'll have worshiping at the Obama altar. Plus it's good to know who makes the libs shake in their little girl boots!
